Anugerah Pelajar Cemerlang Sekolah-Sekolah Menengah/ Maktab Kerajaan Dan Swasta Senegara Bagi Tahun 2010

The prize presentation ceremony for students who were Top in the World/ Top Ten in the World/ Top in Brunei Darussalam/ High Achievers in GCE “O”, “AS”, and “A” Level in Oct/Nov 2009 was held on Saturday, 29 April at Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club. The Principal was invited along with four of our teachers namely Ms Rosemary Ong, Mrs Manik, Mdm Karen Hu and Mr Richard Chin to the ceremony. Four of our students were given the excellence awards:

Chieng Chiew Ying of 5S1	Top 10 in the World in Maths D
Zai’emahthul ‘Ibrah bte Hj Zaini of 5S2	Top in NBD in English Literature
Joann Teoh of 5S2	Top in NBD in Geography
Lang Wan Shing of 5S1	Top in NBD in Art

SAS vs SAC Friendly Matches

Friendly badminton/ table tennis matches were held between the school and the church on Friday, 30 April in the school. The Principal donated the prizes.

Pairama

The Pairama Bahasa dan Budaya Melayu was organised by the Bahasa Melayu Department over the month of April and the Majlis Penutup was held on Saturday, 1 May. The Guest-of-Honour was Ak Abdullah, Director of Curriculum Dept. Cikgu Hj Wan Roslan (HoD BM) was the teacher-in-charge with all the BM teachers assisting. It was a very impressive and successful event.

       

Primary Interhouse English and Bahasa Melayu Quiz

The Primary Interhouse English and Bahasa Melayu Quiz was held on 27th April 2010. The winner of the Bahasa Melayu Quiz was Cornwall house, with Macdougal as the runner-up. The winner of the English Quiz was Macdougal house, with Hollis as the runner-up.

   

ASEAN Plus Three Youth Environmental Forum 2010 (AYEF)

Mdm Lorene Fong together with two students, Siti Khairiyati Awg Hj Suhaimei and Muhammad Hashif bin Husaini (both of Sec 5CS) participated in the national forum organized by STEP centre and Dept of Environment (Parks and Recreations), Ministry of Development held on 14 & 15 April. They attended the Asean Forum held in Empire Hotel and Country Club, from 22 to 25 April.

 

Anugerah Pelajar Cemerlang Sekolah-Sekolah Rendah Senegara Bagi Tahun 2010

The prize presentation ceremony for students who scored 5As in PSR 2009 and best students from Year 1 to Year 6 2009 was held on April 21st, 2010 at Hua Ho Manggis Mall. All our 41 students (in Pry 6 2009) who scored 5As in the PSR were awarded. Yeo Yeo, Chiew of Yr 4R was awarded the Hadiah Pelajar Cemerlang Peringkat Negara Tahun 3 Zon Brunei dan Muara for 2010.

Motivational talk

Motivational talks for PSR, PMB and GCE O Level students were conducted by the Counselling and Career Unit, MoE  on 8, 6and 17 April respectively as arranged by the Counselling teacher, Cikgu Normah Aziz:

Karnival Kerjaya 2010

Cikgu Sheikh Mohd Nuh and 4 Sec 5 students attended a career talk and exhibition (Karnival Kerjaya 2010) by the Labour Department on 13 April.

SPN 21 Briefing Session

Mrs Helen Kang conducted a 1-hour briefing session on SPN 21 for the parents of Year 4 (who were not familiar with the new SPN 21 system) on 10 April 2010 from 3pm to 4pm to enlighten them on the overall assessment, coursework and standardizes grading system.

 

English Language Oratory Competition

The 3rd Private Secondary Schools’ English Language Oratory Competition 2010 was organised by SMYSHHB on 10th April 2010 for Year 7 and 8 students with the theme “21st Century Skills are a must for today’s students”

Ai’syah Intan Aqilah bte Abdullah from Yr 8G won the 3rd runner up trophy. Teacher-in-charge was Mrs Beena Mamman.

 

Visit of the President of Tajikistan

Students from Yr 8G and 8Y with their teachers lined up along Jln Tutong (near Istana) to welcome the President of Tajikistan during His visit to Brunei on Saturday, 3 April.

Interhouse Science and Maths Challenge

The Science and Maths Department organized the Interhouse Science and Maths Challenge on 1 & 3 April. The winning house was Hollis and Cornwall was runner-up.
